  TOM SAWYER (Children's Theatre Version)
This is the musical version of a popular Traveling Playhouse script, transformed into an even more popular and much requested "Hit!" with young audiences.  It follows the fortunes of the characters in Mark Twain's most popular novel and includes many of the adventures (and mis-adventures) of one of literature's most fondly recognised juveniles.  Set in 1850 in the town of Hannibal, Missouri, this five male-two female actor (with doubling) offering is a lively, rough-and-tumble musical.  The songs move the action and color the characterizations.  The play combines comedy, drama, and "dark-doings" that thrill and delight.  The settings include the yard in front of Aunt Polly's house, the graveyard where Doc Robinson is "done in" and MacDougal's Cave where Tom and Becky confront the sinister Injun Joe.  Songs include "Tom!", "Warts!", "I Love/Hate Whitewash", "I'm Gonna Be a Pirate",  "The Funeral Dirge" and Sid's hilarious "I'm Too Good to be True!" and many more.
