THE KING WHO LOST CHRISTMAS
This is a seasonal musical based on an original story.  The composition of the music is based on traditional Christmas themes with altered lyrics.  The entire action takes place on one set, the Palace Garden, and includes a chase into the audience.  The five-character story concerns a far away kingdom whose King has been persuaded to foolishly subvert the Christmas Season into a time for giving presents....mostly toys....to HIMSELF!  He is encouraged in this conceit by his wicked Prime Minister whose increased taxes enslave the people while he pockets the proceeds.  Hoping to reverse this trend, Hannah the Housekeeper enlists an orphan girl, Anna, to expose the Prime Minister's evil plot.  They enlist the PM's adopted son, Dorphus, who has been raised by his adoptive father to consider himself as "not very bright".  We will come to learn otherwise.  It is a wild farce with lovely songs and very touching moments, ending with the transformation of the forlorn Palace Garden with its one straggly pine tree into a Holiday Wonderland.  Songs include  "At Christmas",  "Somebody Loved Me",  "Be the Baddest and the Best!",  "Toys!",  "Good King Wanderwitz", and "Decorate the Christmas Tree!".
